Apologies to anyone that doesn't have a uterus, this one may not be the most applicable to you, but if you do, read on. Ohne entered my life when I got an Instagram ad for their organic cotton and biodegradable sanitary product subscription service. Now I love a subscription service, they make regular purchases so easy and stress free. Before signing up to Ohne's services I was already receiving a bamboo toothbrush and beauty box on a regular basis, and I'm currently scouring the market for a sustainable razor subscription too. Adding sanitary products to my monthly deliveries just seemed to make sense.
I know what you're thinking, and it is that surely all these deliveries can't be too good for the environment? That is what drove my desire to shop locally in the first place as with products travelling a shorter distance, the delivery process has less impact on the environment. A lot of eco-friendly subscription services also try to offset their carbon emissions by doing things like planting trees every day!
Ohne's tampons are made from organic cotton and are biodegradable, while their pads are plastic free and organic and biodegradable too. Their products are vegan and cruelty free and don't come with any plastic packaging.
They offer a range of products including applicator and non-applicator tampons in sizes regular, super and super+, pads in daytime and night-time absorbencies, CBD oil, chocolate, stickers and more. When signing up for your subscription you can choose how many of each type of product to order and how often you would like them delivered, and it can be changed to suit your cycles needs.
I got 6 regular and 6 super tampons and they came in the cutest red packaging and shipped very quickly, so you only need to make your first order a few days before you are due. I'm very happy with the quality of the tampons and the ability to specify how many you want and of what size is something you just cant get at the supermarket. Ohne have definitely simplified sanitary product shopping for me and I will continue to use them for sure and I'm very happy knowing that every purchase helps the School Club Zambia project which works towards eliminating period poverty for school girls in rural Zambia!
